Bonneville County Fire District #1 is currently accepting applications for one (1) Full-Time Fire Captain position.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Current state-issued driver's license
  • IFSAC Firefighter I Certification
  • IFSAC Firefighter II Certification
  • Driver Operator Certification

Preferred Qualifications

The following certifications are preferred at the time of hire:

  • Class B CDL Driver's License
  • National Registry EMT (NREMT) (required within twelve (12) months of hire)
  • 3 to 5 Years of firefighting experience

Position Summary

The Fire Captain supervises Firefighters while protecting the community through fire suppression, emergency medical response, rescue operations, fire prevention, inspections, training, and public education.

This position is responsible for providing leadership on assigned shifts by mentoring personnel, conducting training, evaluating performance, maintaining morale, and fostering a positive team culture. Fire Captains may also be assigned to specialty areas to assist Chief Officers with departmental operations and initiatives.

The work is performed under the supervision of a Chief Officer and requires sound judgment, strong leadership, and the ability to perform effectively in demanding and potentially hazardous environments.
